The Central Freeway Replacement Project in Highways Bridges Resource Directory

The Central Freeway Replacement Project, a joint project between the City, Caltrans and the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, began in March 2003 with the demolition of the existing Central Freeway structure by Caltrans. The Department of Public Works designed and constructed the new Octavia Boulevard, which carries traffic that once traveled on the elevated doubledecked freeway structure.
