The role of the Department of Transportation and Public Works is fourfold: To provide high quality and timely policy to the Government of Prince Edward Island on all matters related to transportation and public works; To provide transportation infrastructure and foster development of a safe, efficient, affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation system for the movement of people and goods; To provide quality services to the rest of Government in the areas of building construction, Crown land management, building maintenance, accommodations and telecommunications; and to support development of the Prince Edward Island economy. Clients include transportation users, enforcement agencies, the construction industry, and other Government Departments.
