The Federal Highway Administration FHWA, in cooperation with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department AHTD, is conducting a comprehensive environmental and engineering study and will prepare the necessary environmental documentation for this section of the proposed Interstate 69 corridor from El Dorado to McGehee, Arkansas. This project is proposed to be a fourlane divided, fully controlled access facility located on a new alignment. The proposed highway is a portion of the planned I69 Corridor which will link Indianapolis, Indiana to the lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas. The I69 Corridor also includes completed portions of I69 from Indianapolis north to the Port Huron, Michigan border crossing with Canada and includes existing I94 from Port Huron, Michigan through Detroit to Chicago, Illinois.
